Waiting for the Day
March 28th, 2006
Really, I have so much to write about, but dude, this is what I get to come home to every day. EVERY. DAY.

It’s okay to be jealous, and yes, you can come to visit. She’s perfect. I drive home a little faster to smell her little neck folds, get doggie kisses and watch her roll around the living room. When I get home, she’s so excited to see me that she wiggles all over with joy and whimpers until I pick her up, then licks me until I want to swallow her whole with love. This is my first dog, really – I had a few when I was a small child, but I never really had a dog that I was responsible for, and I never really knew how much they love you back. At the vet’s office today, she was so ridiculously happy to see me after being weighed, I thought I might love bomb her to death.
Is this anything like having a baby? Anything at all? Because if this is how much you love your child, and then some, I might want 11. Because I already want 30 dogs, and Adam just lamented that pugs only live up to 14 years because, “I want her around for the rest of my life. FOREVER.”
Because Sunny? My little dog? Is really awesome. As awesome as she looks and then some.
*Erasure. From Chorus, which was a fabulous album, and I don’t care how uncool it is.

Oh, darling Sunny. That picture is wanting of the perfect frame, no? I’m with you 100% on the neck folds thing – there’s something about the smell of Doc’s ears and neck. It just makes me want to sop him up with a biscuit. Sometimes I’m sad that he didn’t come into my life sooner, as a puppy…you are so lucky! Enjoy!

What a sweetie pie! And yes, it’s totally like having a baby…times 100 or so. I told my son yesterday that if I loved him any more, my head would probably pop off. I think I might’ve scarred him for life. ;^)

Alright. Deep breath. I have the 2006 Pug Puppies calendar. There, I’ve said it. Had 2005 as well. It’s very much the substitute for having a real pug. Your excitement is lovely to read. Does she do the turning-in-circles thing when she’s happy? Bless ‘er.

okay – i’m not a dog person. at all. but your excitement and love for this..pug..thing..is absolutely adorable. it’s so obvious and real that i think it’s here in the room with me. that picture is amazing and the first one that allows me to see (kind of
) what you see in her. Seriously, from what I hear – having a dog is excellent “mommy” training. the difference? you don’t have to hire someone to watch sunny during the day , nor when you go out to dinner, etc. other than that – oh and diapers and attitude – it’s the same.
(sorry for the attitude)

She is very, very adorable. How’s the Snap?

I love her. She’s gorgeous. Do dogs rule, or what? And yes, it’s a lot like having children — except you love them even more. Doesn’t seem possible, does it??
(Miss you.)

she is adorable. she needs a dogmother (godmother, get it?) in Seattle and I’d like to apply for the job. I mean, just in case you need babysitting or anything. You know. xoxo

YES! That is the love, only MORE SO. Motherhood= amazing love.
I have been happy as can be all day just because my son is coming to my science lab tonight and I miss him so much.
He’ll be here in 1/2 and hour and I can’t wait!
BTW – that dog is so adorable!

oh what a sweet looking little puppy!! They make it so hard to leave the house when they look at you like that, don’t they? She looks so cute and innocent now – just wait until she hits the teenager months! It’s a whole new ballgame, then.
I wish i had my pup when she was that young. Sigh… so sweet!

Such a sweet little face! I love her.
She will break your heart some day (just like my Patsy did), but you must enjoy the time you have with her! Don’t think about… later.
Please kiss her for me.

I love the pugs too.Got a black one named Bruno and the tan one is Oscar. The only way to amplify what you’re experiencing is to get her another pug brother or sister. They’ll be so entertaining that you won’t need your t.v. any more.Yes,I also love mine to death and they make me salivate! That’s how much I love ‘em!She’s a darling!

Some Yiddish words are much more apt signifiers than their English counterparts. In the case of your doggie, “Look at that ponem!” just WORKS.
As for the baby thing, I can’t say yet. Mine is hitting the height of her 6-week fussiness/wakefulness, and only occasionally blesses me with a smile. A puppy, in contrast, is like an instant 18-month-old minus the contrariness: all interaction, excitement, and love. Plus, dog owners don’t have to squeeze kibble from their boobs (a definite plus).
