In the same camp as you - all the undies get washed and dried with their respective color (lights or darks) in warm water. I do hang my bras to dry and some cotton shirts because I have long arms and can't stand when the sleeves become 3/4 length! I had heard that some people wash undies separately but I just thought they had too much time on their hands - I did not realize the SYSTEMS. :)
Can't help you with cooking since most of the time I LOVE me a good bowl of cereal - and often gourmet is Green Giant Frozen Create A Meal (sweet and sour) - comes with all the veggies and I just add chicken.

The dryer is obligatory for cotton underwear! The heat kills bacteria! I even dry my lacy and/or cashmere panties on a heated towel rack for extra germ-killing power.

But I'm a germophoble like that.

In order to actually keep the knicker-wash-water from contacting one's other clothes, one would have to buy a separate washing machine. When the water drains from your machine, it leaves residue inside the wash tub.

And I'm in the party with the people who are wondering what's going on in others' knickers that causes such fright. You should be FAR more grossed-out about touching, oh let's say, a grocery cart handle. Or thinking about the poop particles in the air we breathe.

Usually, everything gets thrown in with like colors and washed on cold. I separate the toddler's clothes, since they can just hang out in the dryer when they're done. I don't care if they get wrinkled. And it's a pain separating those teeny socks from my husband's XXXL shirts. Anyway, I don't think you're weird for not separating the underwear.
Doesn't everyone put their underwear in the dryer? Bras get hung to dry, but plain cotton underwear? Since I put everything in the washing machine (Dry clean only? Why not? Cashmere? Throw it in!), lots of stuff gets hung to dry. But I am not hanging my cotton underwear to dry. Cause you know it'll fall on the floor and the dogs will eat it.

I wash my knickers and bras together with everything else! I don't throw them in the dryer with everything though -- rather, I pull a rather classy move and string them up over radiators and doors and shower rails to dry. And that's ALWAYS when the landlord pops by to ask me about something.

Re: cooking -- you should check out Nigella Express. OMG, so easy! Most of the recipes have only two or three ingredients, and yet they all TASTE as though you have gone out to the specialty gourmet store and bought a ton of fancy things, then spent hours putting them together in an impressive way.

Shepherds Pie is SUPER easy (though you have to use real potatoes and PROMISE ME YOU WON'T USE INSTANT -- I know I wrote my recipe on my site somewhere...oooh last year). I've also just figured out that roasting a chicken is THE EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD (as long as you don't mind a little awkward poking around in its bottom when you shove the lemon up there. Aw, come on, it's dead -- it's not like you're scarring it for life or anything.) I've also found that risotto is super easy to make and looks TOTALLY fancy. You have to commit 20 minutes to non-stop stirring, but apart from that it's a piece of cake. Um, as it were.

51 comments mostly about landry and many mentioning poop? Good times!

I for one do not seperate underwear from the clothes, and I was blissfully ignorant about any sort of poop particles that may have been swimming around in that good ol' front loader. I am now a little grossed out by my clothes today and will fight the urge to buy an entirely new poop-free outfit from Target at lunch.

Used to be indiscriminate about washing undies with other stuff until I saw an episode of "How Clean is Your House" that FREAKED me out so now I separate.

A great cookbook for way easy yet nutritious and tasty meals is The Six O'Clock Scramble by Aviva Goldfarb. She also has an online dinner planning service of the same name that you can subscribe to (that I've never tried) but the cookbook is great.
