Title, schmitle. I’m going to bed.

February 16th, 2010

I’m alive! I’m ALIVE! Look at me, all TYPING SOMETHING I’M NOT CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED TO DO! Or, you know, something that’s not making me miserable. Not that work makes me miserable! Au contraire! I love what I do, really, I do, but there was a bit too many things going on there at once, all DUE at once, and … well, no one needs to hear about any of this, really, except that I have three obvious pro tips for you:

1) There is such a thing as seeing too much True Blood. I had to re-watch the whole show from start to finish. Many times. You want to know what happened in any episode? What Bill was wearing? What Eric was wearing? Oh, just ask me! I’ll tell you in excessive detail! My favorite Eric outfit, if you were wondering, was the zip-up track suit he wore in the department store with some kind of, um, horn around his neck. Oh, it was the first episode where he debuted his new haircut and, wait, where are you going?

2) No matter how much work you have to do, writing in a moving vehicle is ill advised. As is taking no breaks whatsoever (except to Shred) and not leaving the house or seeing your friends or getting your BABY out of the house. If you do what I did, which was to NEVER LEAVE OR STOP WORKING, you find yourself coming completely undone, your baby coming undone and having your husband gently take you aside and suggest that you walk the dog to “see the trees” and get perspective. SEE THE TREES.

3) Again, folks, LEAVE THE HOUSE. TAKE A BREAK. DO NOT BE ME. LEEEEAAAAVVEEE THE HOOUUUUSSSEEE. Twitter is great, but it is NOT meant to be your only form of social interaction. Repeat, Twitter does not substitute for actual human friends and conversation. Like, AT ALL.

So that’s what you missed. My slow descent into madness. I’m slowly clawing my way back to normalcy. I’ll write more normal stuff when I start acting … normal again.

But! I have Book Lushes news! Voting is now open on the next book! Here’s the poll!

Hopefully your climb back into a more normal world will be swift and painless. And maybe have a few fewer vampires, at least for a week or so.

Maybe someday when I get out of my own work-wormhole I’ll be able to watch True Blood myself. I OWN IT, but haven’t watched it yet. Vampire fan failure! But I’ll certainly read it before the True Blood book comes out, because OBVIOUSLY.

    Congrats on being done!

So does True Blood get better in Season 2? It was all I could do to sit through the first few episodes because they were so goofy, and then I had to deal with the disdainful laughter of my husband (he’s from New Orleans) every time a character spoke. Eric starts playing a bigger role in the show?

Tonight we braved taking the toddler to a restaurant during the witching hour simply because even a total public meltdown would have been worth GETTING OUT OF THE HOUSE AND AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER. (And the kid actually behaved himself, which made it even better.) Oh, normal life, you are so underrated.

And man, I can’t imagine trying to do accurate, researchy-type writing on a “document” (i.e., a t.v. series) that doesn’t come with a search function. I guess the bright side is that at least you weren’t watching it on VHS tape. Oh, wait…the bright side is YOU’RE DONE! HOORAAAAAAY!

Wait… Twitter ISN’T a substitute for regular social interaction?? Well….shit.

Excellent advice! Perhaps I should pin these words of wisdom on my computer screen or desk somewhere to remind me to GET OUTSIDE. Which I did not, all of last week.

Hope your return to normalcy is swift and freeing.

    Get thee outdoors!

And I’m very excited to vote on the next book as I loved the last one!

I’m not part of Book Lushes, (oh, I really want to be, but if I get involved in any more internet activities, I’m afraid my husband will cancel our internet as a form of shock intervention!) but I highly recommend American Gods. Or anything by Neil Gaimon, for that matter. Good Omens will make you sob with laughter.

I’ve been stalking our local Half-Price Book store, in the hopes of finding a copy of Push. I really want to read that before I watch it.

Anyway, glad to see a post from you. Take care of yourself!

I am mired in that right now. So much work to do and no time to do it in. And yet! Here I am! Reading your blog! Because if I do any more work without taking a break I swear to god my head will split in half.

I had a feeling “Thriller” would not be the lead title here today. Hooray! I missed your posts…
You really didn’t seem too crazy yesterday. Or too talkative. Is it possible that it’s all in your head? Hmmmm.
I hope Dragon Tatoo wins, since I haven’t read it.

See that’s my problem….without someone to remind me about the TREES I get sucked in to Twitter as Life.

I? Did not vote. Because I will read whatever you tell me to. The Help was great and was the best book I’ve read in awhile. Clearly I need hand-holding when it comes to literature choices.

Glad your husband was able to slap some sense into you! And writing for fun just isn’t as fun when you have so many deadlines to meet…

It’s hard to balance work and everything else when they’re all taking place in the same physical space. Wish I had some helpful tip, but I don’t.

Joana’s non-sequitor, spammy comment is giving me giggles. Let me get writing help from a person who is unable to compose an intelligible sentence!

Houses and cars are expensive and not everyone is able to buy it. But, home loans was created to aid different people in such situations.
